Home Inventory

A record of everything you own, ready for the day you need to file a claim.

If your home were flooded or burgled tomorrow, could you list everything in it, with what you paid and the serial numbers? Home Inventory builds that list as you go, on your iPhone, iPad and Mac, and turns it into a report your insurer can use.

It isn’t on the App Store yet.

Help

Add things quickly

From a photo
Take a picture and get a suggested name and category.
From a receipt
Scan it, or pick a photo or PDF, and the store, date and price are filled in for you to check. The receipt stays with the item.
Serial numbers and barcodes
On iPhone and iPad, read them off the label with the camera instead of typing them out.
A whole room at once
Type one item per line, or describe what’s in the room and let Apple Intelligence make the list.

Kept in order

Homes and rooms
As many homes as you need, plus categories and tags that cut across rooms.
Documents
Receipts, manuals and warranty papers, attached to the item they belong to.
Warranty reminders
A notification before coverage runs out, as many days ahead as you choose.
The whole picture
Your total value by room and by category, and the items still missing a photo or a price.

Ready for a claim

Insurance report
A PDF with photos, values and serial numbers, for one home or all of them.
Spreadsheet
A CSV for Numbers, Excel or Google Sheets.

Your data stays yours

No account, no server of mine, no analytics. Your inventory lives on your devices and syncs between your iPhone, iPad and Mac through your own iCloud account. I can’t see any of it, and it all works with no signal.

Apple Intelligence features run on the device. Your photos and receipts are never uploaded.

Back up everything to one ZIP file: a spreadsheet, a JSON file, and every photo and document as an ordinary file. It opens without the app, so your inventory outlives it. Sync isn’t a backup, since a deletion syncs too, so make one now and then and keep it somewhere safe.

You can lock the app behind Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.

Price

Every feature is free for up to 25 items. An item with a quantity counts once, so four dining chairs use one of the 25. Unlimited Items is a single $9.99 purchase that covers iPhone, iPad and Mac and is shared with your family through Family Sharing. No subscription.

Requirements

iOS 26, iPadOS 26 or macOS 26. The Apple Intelligence features need a device that supports it, with it turned on, and photo suggestions from it need iOS 27 or macOS 27. Without it, receipts and photo suggestions fall back to on-device text recognition and image classification.

Email me at support@chaosplay.com. Tell me which device you’re on, its iOS or macOS version, and what happened. A screenshot helps a lot. I read everything, even if it takes me a few days to write back.

Purchases go through Apple. Restore Purchase is in Settings and on the purchase screen. Refunds are Apple’s call, at reportaproblem.apple.com. Losing the purchase never deletes anything: past 25 items the inventory turns read-only, and you can still view, export and back up all of it.

New device? Sign in to the same iCloud account and your inventory comes across on its own. You can also import a backup from Settings › Back Up & Restore.
